How to Raise Awareness for Important Events on University Campus

by using poster cases and notice boards to advertise what's happening.

Events are a big part of university life. Almost every day, university campuses are brought to life by energetic events and occasions. In order to make the most of this, you need to advertise what’s happening to your students and raise awareness for what’s coming up in the next few weeks. This article is going to take a look at how you can do just that.

Use social media

With the digital world as it is, it’s important that, as a university and a student union, you have an online presence. A website is pretty standard but potentially not the best way to communicate with your current students.
Setting up a twitter account and a Facebook page is a great start. You could even create Facebook groups for each year group and advertise individually relevant events to help boost engagement. This is the best way to reach out to those who don’t live on campus or only study part time as they may feel disconnected from university life.

Invest in posters cases

If you’ve already read our article on how to jazz up your student union, then you’ll know that advertising using poster cases is a great way to raise awareness for events for a number of reasons. Not only can you display and preserve your posters, but you can add a burst of colour and extended brand image throughout. They aren’t just a great addition for your student union but are the perfect tool to use across campus and are suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.

Install notice boards

Similar to the poster cases, advertising your upcoming events on a noticeboard is another great idea. Installing a noticeboard in an area of the campus where a lot of students walk past is the perfect way to create a focal point that will quickly become centre of attention. You’ll soon find that the majority of students will check the noticeboard as they walk past as part of their day to day routines.
Once the noticeboard is installed, you are then free to advertise whichever events you want your students to know about. And this is another ideal place to utilise the posters you created for your poster cases. By using a noticeboard, you are also keeping all your advertising in one place, which can be greatly beneficial to your students on campus.

Create leaflets

If you’ve gone to the trouble to create custom posters for your upcoming events, then it may also be worth considering creating leaflets too – or perhaps creating leaflets is a great alternative. Distributing leaflets throughout campus in high traffic places – such as the cafeteria, the library and in the local halls – is a great way to spread the word and raise awareness of what the upcoming events are.
Knowing when, where and how to advertise your events can be difficult if you don’t know where to start but using a combination of the four tips above will ensure your event is known about all over campus and will guarantee its success!
